rizzler

/ˈrɪzlər/ Intermediate Updated

A rizzler is someone with a lot of rizz, meaning charm and skill at flirting. It’s a playful title for a smooth talker, and it’s often used ironically.

What does rizzler mean?

Rizzler builds on rizz, the slang word for charm or the ability to attract someone. Add “-ler” and you get a person: the rizzler is the one who always seems to get the number, make the crush laugh, or win over the room.

Because it sounds a little silly, people often use it teasingly: calling your friend “the rizzler” after a single awkward compliment is more joke than praise. Kids also use it in absurd meme mash-ups with words like sigma and skibidi.

How to use rizzler

  • “He got her Instagram in five minutes. Certified rizzler.”
  • “Okay rizzler, calm down.” (teasing)
  • “The rizzler strikes again.”
  • “I’m not a rizzler, I panic and say ‘you too’ to waiters.”

Rizzler vs. rizz

Rizz is the quality; a rizzler is the person who has it. Related phrases include “unspoken rizz,” charm that works without words, and “W rizz” or “L rizz” for good or bad flirting attempts.

Where rizzler comes from

Rizzler grew out of rizz, which Merriam-Webster dates to 2021 and Oxford named its Word of the Year in 2023. Rizzler itself isn’t in major dictionaries yet: Merriam-Webster notes it hasn’t been officially defined, and Dictionary.com says it isn’t in its dictionary.
