gyatt
Gyatt is an exclamation people use when they see someone they find very attractive, usually someone with a curvy figure. It started as a stretched-out way of saying “goddamn.” It is also used as a noun for a person’s curves, particularly their backside.
What does gyatt mean?
Gyatt (also spelled “gyat”) is a reaction word, the online version of a loud “wow.” Streamers yell it on camera, and commenters spam it under photos and videos. Over time it also became a noun, so people talk about someone “having a gyatt.”
Because it is about someone’s body, it is crude. Among friends joking about a meme it can be harmless, but saying it about or to a real person, especially a stranger, comes across as objectifying.
How it’s used
- “The whole chat started typing GYATT at the same time.”
- “He saw the reveal and just yelled ‘gyatt’ into the mic.”
- “My little brother says ‘gyatt’ about everything now, including pizza.”
As with a lot of viral slang, younger kids often repeat it without knowing the meaning, which is why many parents look it up.
Where it comes from
Variants like “gyat damn” appeared online years earlier, but the modern meme took off around 2021 when Twitch streamer YourRAGE began shouting “GYATT” on stream while reacting to videos. From there it spread across streaming, TikTok and YouTube, and by 2023 it was one of the most recognizable pieces of Gen Z and Gen Alpha slang.
